Christmas eve

  1. What a neat tree! Okay, a lack of Christmas tree scent but it sure beats pine needles on the floor and hauling the tree away in Jan. I like the chili ornament. What is in the glass globe next to the wooden(?) horse? Very pretty.

Due to snow yesterday, we have a White Christmas. You may break into song now.....

    Merry Christmas Eve Day!

  3. Hi Molly, We have a great big balsam wreath from Maine on the inside of the french door to the porch, so there are a few of those needles on the floor and a wonderful scent. The globe is a glass ornament from the Newcomb Christmas art sale. I noticed that it snowed up north, and thought of you. have a lovely day, sp

  4. Hi Glenn, A long time ago we used to put tiny decorations on a potted norfolk pine, but other than that we never got a traditional tree. I know you put in at least a full day on the decorations, so your place must look great. have a good day! thanks, sp

  5. I had not been familiar with Newcomb until I started watching Antiques Roadshow.

Snow was just enough to cover the ground (before that you could rightfully sing, In The Bleak Mid-Winter) but not enough to have to run the snow blower. Lake still not frozen over, rather late this year.....should have left the dock? (no way).

Now we start getting more hours of sun.

  6. Here in Japan we've got a little artificial tree we put out every year. Real ones are a bit hard to come by!
Nice pic! And (again!) Merry Christmas!

  9. Hi Marguerite, thanks, it does look like a banana pepper, but that's a pickle ornament! a whole set of red chili peppers would be cute. my favorite ingredient to add in cooking lately is a little cayenne pepper, it really livens up some favorite old recipes. have fun and get some relaxation, sp
