  1. You got the eye, all right.

I took some pix near Yesler and 2nd tonight using the Hipstamatic app. I should have a little movie up and running by Sunday.

  2. Great pics, but I couldn't help but think: those buildings couldn't pass code here in Japan. One tremor and that's all she wrote. Or, are those stilts just temporary?

  3. Thanks K! I'll be looking for Sunday Funnies & Arts as always...

Hi Rick, We don't worry about earthquakes, but are understandably paranoid about Lake Ponchartrain coming for another visit. Going up 6-8 feet, we can all understand. However, taking a little house and putting it 20 feet into the air seems like an overreaction. If that much water came with any power at all, the whole thing would topple. Plus, I'd be afraid to sleepwalk & just fall out. thanks, sp

  4. Rick, I forgot to answer your question. The stilts are not temporary, and hopefully will be part of a larger project to create sufficient support for the little house. This isn't even the highest one around here. Most people who elevate their houses would be more conservative in the height. But the spelling matters when you say you want your house "raised" ...they better not hear "razed". sp

  6. Hi bc! Thanks very much. When FEMA first called to offer us a trailer (when I had never requested one, and other people were in desperate need of one), the first thought that went through my mind was "I'd never be able to get rid of it!!" I wonder if the homeowners of the house on concrete stilts still live in their little trailer. love, sp
