  2. Hi sg! Yes, the second one is a couple minutes walk, it's on Gentilly Blvd., not too far from Elysian Fields. It's on the site of the ruined library with the same name, but is much larger than that one had been-- they pushed down some other long-neglected buildings and this new library takes up the block. I saw Mayor Landrieu at the ALA conference this last summer, actually went up to him and said hello. He is very proud of the new batch of replacement public libraries that the city is building. After years of delays, they are finally coming to fruition. thanks, sp

  4. Forgot to say, the photo at top shows a new building in Metairie, on West Esplanade. I don't know much about the background story with it, but I was enthralled with it during its purple phase and it looks quite pretty now too.

  5. I pass the Norman Meyer one almost everyday and get as giddy as a school girl. I can't wait for it to be up and running.
    I love libraries.

  6. Hi bc! I feel that way too, it just shows what people can do ANYWHERE, if they decide to. I heard there's a plan to develop Gentilly Blvd. farther out, they could make that functional and even beautiful if they choose to. I'm glad we get to see all of this happen. thanks, sp
