C & A Seafood coming soon

The same year as the Gulf oil spill, somebody decided to take an old dilapidated and abandoned service station, with its heartfelt hurricane-battered sign perpetually continuing to remind everyone, "God Always First", and totally transform it into a fried seafood shop. That's the same building (underneath there somewhere) and in true New Orleans fashion, the actual same sign. This takes a lot of determination and audacity. They must have confidence in the availability of shrimp and crawfish, but there is one important item missing from the promised menu selections ... maybe they will stay in business long enough to promise oysters.

  1. I haven't lived there in years, I left in '98, but that area looks familiar.

    Where is it?!?

  2. I haven't done my restaurant of the month in a minute. I may have to give them a play. It looks like it's uptown somewhere. I see they have "overstuffed po-boys"...reminds me of We Never Close.

  3. Good morning Reggie and bayoucreole, The buildings in both the old and the new photos have "1429" on them and I'm assuming that's 1429 S. Jefferson Davis Parkway. On google street view with that address, you'd have to turn around 180 degrees, go forward through the complicated intersection of Jeff Davis, Washington, and Earhart, at the top of Vendome, then you'll see the brown building on the right. But don't turn up for the food review yet, bc, because they haven't opened yet! So, "We Never Close" wouldn't apply... at least not yet. It's on my way home from work, and I have high hopes for picking up sandwiches! thanks, sp
