  3. That alleyway picture makes me want to get a daiquiri for some reason. I can just see myself walking through there sipping on one!

  4. That's sweet and exotic. It's a very tropical sort of little world right there, for a half a block. One time I encountered some "found art" down on the sidewalk-- a school photo of a young girl. thanks, sp

  5. This might sound strange, but the overgrown walkway reminds me of snowbanks on the sidewalks in Canada In winter, of course--you know, starting next week! ;-)
Just curious: it looks like an actual street-fronted sidewalk--are there any rules about keeping it trimmed and stuff? Like Northerners have to clear their sidewalks in winter, inverted? (This is why I don't comment on other people's blogs much!!)

  6. Hi Rick, Down here we miss out on all that show-shoveling up north. Being responsible for the sidewalk, I'm not sure, except this particular sidewalk is almost always slightly too overgrown to walk through. I checked it out on Google earth street view, to verify the street name, and the image there is old. On there, the Norfolk pine is still alive, and the ground greenery is small... probably from several years ago. I think technically the sidewalks and the little strip of ground between the sidewalk and street belong to the city, and not the homeowner. But people generally do as they wish with that, and of course with what's growing on their own property. But yes the plant-filled side and the old building side are sidewalks on a city street. thanks, sp
