  3. ah...mayonnaise! And I had read that earlier blog but brain didn't retain the Blue Plate data.

it just struck me as funny: ONE weirdly strung cable/cord and, ergo, an electrician was at work. guess you had to be there.

and why do your nephew and niece call you Sussah? Susanna, or Susie like I think of you since Jr High days, I would understand. Perhaps a family nickname? Just curious.

Rains from Lee making their way up here, we are ok but Vt sure is suffering.

  4. er...is it "why do" or "why does"....in my earlier post? hmmmm. both sound strange. I'll ask a librarian.

We have the word "cousins" that can mean male or female but is there a collective word for "children of our siblings" that covers both genders?

I think in Spanish sobrinos would either mean a group of nephews OR a group of nephews and nieces; sobrinas for a group of only nieces.

  5. my nickname "sussah" was created by my niece Emily when she was a little girl. Emily didn't want to call me "sissah" like her mom does, so this was a hybrid. fast forward to the 21st century-- Emily created her blog, Partial Panorama in 2007, which inspired me to create mine. I wanted people to read my event-memoir about the Superdome in Katrina, and I still do, so it's on the internet in 2 places. My blog is now a photo-blog about New Orleans, which is to say post-Katrina New Orleans, those are one in the same. The title of this post was supposed to mean "if an electrician is present, then there's been a decision that a building will not be demolished." I may delete the post, or at least change the title, later on. thanks, sp
