No doubt these photos on the effects of hurricanes are impressive, I hope that it has not suffered major damage in your home. When I saw the news on TV I thought of you. Greetings.
Hi Leovi, thanks very much! we only had some minor issues like the wooden fence will need to be repaired. There are still quite a few people without power, but for the most part, I think New Orleans will get back to normal within a few weeks. Others in southern Louisiana experienced major flooding, and that is devastating. I appreciate hearing from you! sp
We've seen worse. I hope we never see things that bad again ;-)
Hi Glenn, you're right and I hope there will never be another Katrina. But this Isaac gave quite an emotional roller coaster ride. have a peaceful decadent Sunday. thanks, sp
Hi Susan. I've been thinking a lot about you and Glenn lately. I am relieved to know Isaac was less destructive than Katrina. I also hope you people there will never see something like Katrina again! Flooding is also an issue in Rio. We have seen so much suffering due to tropical storms! It's truly devastating... Love, Cláudia.
Dear Claudia, thanks so much for your thoughts and for commenting here. everything is still rough with quite a few people even in N.O. without power after days of being in the heat. but I think most should be back to normal within 10 more days, instead of 10 years like Katrina. In other words, it's only been 7 years since Katrina and isn't completely whole yet. but the people here are good and lively, basically wanting to be happy rather than wanting to be depressed. after we got power, but before we got cable, we watched the wonderful documentary film "No Direction Home" about Bob Dylan's life in the 1960s. Audiences in England and up north "booed" him when he started amplifying the music. I thought that in N.O., at the Jazzfest for example" we would never ever treat evolving musicians musicians that way. we are programmed to have positive acceptance, this is a strong characteristic. I am glad we were not kicked out of town for Hurricane Isaac. have a good week Claudia, so glad to hear from you again. love, sp
I lost a piece of my facia board but that's about it. It was an emotional roller coaster ride for me as well SP.
Hi bc, so glad you finally got power back, oh it's SO hot today, out and about. I don't like September. But after Isaac I feel like it's time to make resolutions, so I need to stop complaining. But before I stop, just learned on the phone that the "hurricane deductible" on homeowners insurance has gone up significantly! Guess we'll have to fix Isaac's work on the fence ourselves. God bless you ... enjoyed reading your story just now. take it easy! thanks, sp
So glad that ya'll were spared the worst of it, but it looks bad enough. We fared very well here.
hi Marguerite, that's good, I'm glad to hear that. the flooding wasn't terribly bad in N.O. (we did have a "flood day" earlier this summer) but the wind damage and the power being out were/are awful. I really missed tv and internet also... the smart phone ran out of charge quite quickly so we were really out of the loop for a little while. thanks & take care, sp
