  1. Dublin Street... how charming to have this name covered in sunlight, warm and pink flowers! Joyce's Dubliners would be startled to see this photo!

  2. I love it when a certain kind of tree starts blooming all at over the city, like the Royal Poincianas did here a few weeks ago. Suddenly you notice trees you didn't even know were there and it dresses up the city. Very pretty!

  3. Dear Claudia, Thanks, it's very colorful right now, the crepe myrtle trees love the hot weather, and they bloom continuously all through the summer. There are some white ones, but mostly they are this shade of pink, a darker richer reddish pink, and then the similar range in the purples. sp

Ellen, I remember those royal poincianas mostly in Homestead and Florida City. Another similarity is the poignant way that these blooming trees are equally boisterous and gorgeous on the grounds of humble or even abandoned homes, as they are in parks or well-kept yards. sp

  4. Pretty in pink indeed! Believe it or not, it has been so damn chilly up here in the Pac NW that barely anything has bloomed. Your pix warm my heart, at least.

  5. Dear K, If you like it warm, you'd love it here today!! It's in the upper 90s, breaking a record, which you really don't want to do in N.O. in the summer. Our ice cream about melted just driving home from the store. And apparently it had rained at home while we were out, then most of the puddles evaporate right away. Somewhere halfway between Washington State and Louisiana, it's probably perfect. sp
